Maroon Bells Wedding in Aspen | Colorado Wedding Photography
O
ne of the great things about being a Denver Wedding Photographer is that I live so close to some of the most spectacular places on earth. One such place is where Jennifer and Tim chose to have their wedding ceremony - The Maroon Bells. This is the most photographed spot in all of Colorado, and for good reason!
Jennifer and Tim got ready for the day at Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado.
[ 0 ]
Jennifer had a note and a gift for Tim before the ceremony. This is the note. We weren't allowed to see the gift - but it was some sort of photo book. ;)
[ 0 ]
On the way out of the Hotel with Jennifer I spotted this Chaise Lounge in the corner. SWEETNESS!
[ 0 ]
Just down the road from the Maroon Bells is the Aspen Chapel. In case of inclement weather the ceremony would've been inside. But the weather was great, and the Aspen Chapel ended up being the perfect spot for a First Look!
[ 0 ]
Jennifer led everyone in a "Hands In. Go Team" kinda thing. A fun way to start the celebration!

This rose that Jennifer gave to Tim's father had a very special meaning. I shot this photo over his shoulder as he sat in the front row.
[ 0 ]
How majestic!
[ 0 ]
OK. I never suggest this photo where the guys hold the bride - just because it's been done so many times before. But these guys had a little twist in mind which made it uniquely theirs - Barefoot. With the Bride. In the water.... Careful boys!!
[ 0 ]
And then we had a little time for photos of Jennifer and Tim! Now, you two... if it were me, I'd blow all four of these photos up huge and have them on display for the rest of my life - just like this!
[ 0 ]
Then it was over to Bumps in Aspen for the reception. At twilight we took a few more of the newlyweds.
[ 0 ]
I heard a rumor that Jennifer put all this together (with a little help from A Funky Little Mountain Flower, I'm sure). Look how all of these fun Colorado details came together!

They'd obviously been practicing!
[ 0 ]
And here's a sweet one of Jennifer with her father.
[ 0 ]
At one point Jennifer and Tim disappeared downstairs. I thought to myself 'what goes down must come up', right? And so I waited overhead for them to come back up the stairs. After a few minutes they began their ascent. But then they stopped on the stairs just before rejoining the party and had a quiet moment, just the two of them. Love this one...
[ 0 ]
And I love this one too!
[ 0 ]
Congratulations guys! What a joy to celebrate with you in this spectacular place that we call home!

treasure this day forever
Special Note: I'm so happy that Jennifer and Tim were my first participants with my Easter House Weddings project! They are great people and I'm thrilled that Samaritan House is going to benefit from this wedding!
Denver Engagement Photography - Jeannette and Jacob
"
I love the contrast of putting something beautiful against something old and worn," she said. "It just seems to make it 'Pop' that much more..." And while I totally agree with Jeannette, I have the feeling that she and Jacob would 'Pop' no matter where we took their photos. They're just that happy together - and it shows!
I'm so excited to photograph Jeannette and Jacob's wedding next year. They will be the second 'Easter House' wedding for me - and hopefully, the second of many more to come! I'm thrilled to photograph the weddings of wonderful people like Jeannette and Jacob, who are dedicated to serving our community.
But enough about all of that - you want to see them 'Pop' out in the urban jungle that is downtown Denver don't you!?

Jeannette and Jacob were pretty excited when we spotted this door. I love textured, weathered wood like this...
[ 0 ]
And the owner even left us a handy little cinder block to use.
[ 0 ]
Some more weathered wood, and some yummy sunsetty rimlight...
efore each Senior Session I do I send my clients a 'Personality Profile' - basically just a few questions that will give me some idea as to what 'look' we might be going for when it comes time for our shoot. I have the students answer all of the questions except for the last one, which is for the parents.
Q: What special portrait or (photographable) memory would you like me to capture?
And Rose's mom answered: Just to capture the beautiful free spirit that is Rose.
I LOVE that answer - and I think we accomplished that goal!

Another question that is asked is: What sports or other activities do you enjoy doing?
And Rose answered: I LOVE to dance (not ballet, or anything formal, just for fun)
Another great answer!
If you want to see some more great photos of Rose and listen to a little music that just might get you dancing - start the slideshow!

Wedding in Steamboat Springs Colorado - Laurie and Patrick
H
igh atop the mountain in Steamboat Springs, on the lawn outside of Thunderhead Lodge, Laurie and Patrick celebrated their wedding day surrounded by their family, their closest friends, and the wide open Colorado sky. For a Colorado wedding, with a true Colorado feel - it just can't get any better than this!
When I arrived, Laurie and the girls were getting ready. Well, it wasn't just the girls. The ring bearer was there too...
[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
And while Laurie was doing her makeup, her father came in to say 'Hello'. I love these joyous moments...
[ 0 ]
And later, Laurie's mother helped her with the veil.
[ 0 ]
Meanwhile, outside, Patrick's mother was getting a hug.
[ 0 ]
The sky was a bit stormy, but we never felt a drop. The wind was blowing... The scene was beautiful. (Thanks to Joey of Jolynne Photography for this great image.)
[ 0 ]
All we needed to begin were a few wedding party members - like these handsome gents.
[ 0 ]
It was also very special that Laurie's grandmother was able to perform the ceremony.
[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
If I made a top ten list of my favorite wedding moments to anticipate, one would be when the Bride and Groom look at each other just moments after the ceremony with that look in their eye saying "We did it!" Hugs and Kisses generally follow.
[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
And then it was time for a few photos. Look how incredible Laurie looked on her wedding day!
[ 0 ]
And the flower girl looked exceptionally beautiful as well. :)

On top of the world.

We wrapped up our photo time just as twilight set in...
[ 0 ]
And then it was time to party!
Not too many times I can come away from a wedding and say I got an awesome 'bustling' photo - but this was one of them! Think Patrick has any idea what he's doing down there? :)
[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
I've always thought that the song 'Cinderella' by Steven Curtis Chapman is THE most perfect Father/Daughter dance song - but I had yet to actually see anyone dance to it until Laurie and her father took the floor. Cue the tears...!
[ 0 ]
Congratulations Laurie and Patrick! The wedding was breathtaking - thank you for making me a part of your day!

Wedding at Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center - Alissa and Matt
I
f their Engagement Session was any indication, there was no doubt that Alissa and Matt's Wedding at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Convention Center was going to be Fabulous! They both look stunning in street clothes, so add a Monique Lhuillier gown, a Paul Smith suit, a little bit of color by Denver Design Works and this party was going to be HOT! And now mix in a touch of joy, a dash of romance, and a whole lot of love - and, well, see for yourself...
I caught this candid laugh just before Alissa and the ladies went outside for their photos... I love the joy!
[ 0 ]
And the joy was contagious!!
[ 0 ]
Meanwhile, Matt was getting ready with the boys.
[ 0 ]
Did I say 'boys' - as in, plural? Yeah, seventeen of them I believe! How cool to be surrounded by all of your best friends!
[ 0 ]
Just before the ceremony was to begin I was in the room, capturing some of the details, when all of the flower girls happened to walk in for a peek down the aisle. How precious is this moment!
[ 0 ]
Denver Design Works, along with Faye Gardenswartz, did an unbelievable job designing this ballroom for the ceremony. It was like a dream...
[ 0 ]
And once the wedding began, it got even better. Here are Matt and his brother, waiting to see Alissa.
[ 0 ]
And here she comes.
[ 0 ]
One of my favorite parts of a Jewish Wedding is when the bride walks around the groom. It's so sweet and happy, I just love these little moments. The smiles, the glances...

After the ceremony we snuck outside for just a few minutes. We were in the heart of Denver, Colorado and so we went with it - capturing Alissa and Matt out amidst the city.

[ 0 ]
And then...
[ 0 ]
A-m-a-z-i-n-g-! Denver Design Works made Alissa and Matt's dreams a reality and this was a party for the ages!
Right off the bat it was time for the Hora!
[ 0 ]
And then followed 6 or 7 hours of non-stop-dancing-the-night-away. I've got to say, the DJs from Red Shoe L.A. were hands down the best I've ever heard!
[ 0 ]
Alissa and Matt both have some moves!

[ 0 ]
[ 0 ]
I think the only time things slowed down enough for them to take a little break was when it was time for a few toasts. Look how happy the newlyweds are!

Congrats Alissa and Matt! What a wedding - and an incredible celebration! I wish you both all the best, forever.
As seen in 'Bride & Bloom'! (...and other fun news...)
I
heard a rumor and made my way over to the local Barnes and Noble, picked up the newest edition of 'The Bride & Bloom' magazine, flipped to pages 54 and 105, and sure enough... I found some wonderful photos by yours truly!
So exciting to be featured in a national publication!
[ 0 ]
Congrats to Julie Gambrell of Classic Creations for being the featured coordinator and coming up with this design - 'Rustic Luxuries'! Also featured here is the wonderful work of a few other locals: Florals by Bella Fiori, Cake and Favor by The Makery, Invitations and Menus by JS Design, Tableware and Rentals by Event Rents, Linens by Wildflower Linen, and everything you see here was setup at the beautiful Villa Parker!
[ 0 ]
And on page 105 they did a full page spread of this image. Bouquet by Bella Fiori.

In other (even better) news! Our newest addition has been home with us from Ethiopia for a month now! Look how cute he is all bundled up after a bath...
Wedding at the Westin Tabor Center Denver - Lindsay and Josh
S
ome weddings are just plain FUN. Crazy, happy, boisterous... fun. And Lindsay and Josh's wedding at the Westin Tabor Center in Denver, Colorado was just that!
When I walked in to Lindsay's room where all the ladies were getting ready for the big day, I saw her dress hanging up on this... hideaway bed?
[ 0 ]
I love it when everyone helps out!
[ 0 ]
No, this wasn't staged. Lindsay was checking herself out and taking a deep breath to soak it all in when Mom walked up. AND I think that's Lindsay's sister in the background...
[ 0 ]
Outside her room she had her very own private deck - with great light to boot! We shot a few photos...
[ 0 ]
...while the guys waited downstairs at the bar, looking out the window every now and again to check on the ceremony site just outside. Kevin Von Qualen was my second shooter for the day and he grabbed this image.
[ 0 ]
Down at the ceremony site, everyone was getting seated and things were about to begin. One wedding party member was ready to get things started! Here's Ruby, the flower dog!
[ 0 ]
And for those of you with a sense of humor... RUBY THE FLOWER DOG! If you're offended I'll just say that Kevin took this photo! :)
[ 0 ]
I loved the setting for their ceremony. How about this wedding in downtown Denver, right out in the open with the clock tower in the background!
[ 0 ]
Here's another angle of the scene, courtesy KVQ...
[ 0 ]
At some point Josh realized that for Lindsay to be heard he would need to share his clip-on microphone with her. It was kinda funny as they all passed it around...
[ 0 ]
And it was windy too. Lindsay was all smiles through everything!
[ 0 ]
Just married!
[ 0 ]
Love this photo of the wedding party in downtown Denver!
[ 0 ]
And we found a rooftop filled with flowers among all the skyscrapers for some more great images of the newlyweds.
[ 0 ]
And then it was time to party! The reception at the Westin Tabor Center was awesome. The wedding party made a fun entrance using the props and costume pieces that Denver Photobooth brought along.
[ 0 ]
And even during their first dance Lindsay showed off her smile, laughter, and joy.
