othing like a perfect night taking photographs! Abby and her mom cruised around with me on a beautiful night in Boulder earlier this week. We had a great time, and using Boulder as our backdrop, we got some great photos. I love it when Seniors bring along someone who can help them feel at ease and make them laugh. In this case Abby's mother did the trick, and I love this natural photo of Abby in front of the flatirons.

Thanks for a wonderful night in Boulder! It was great meeting you both and working with you!
If you'd like to see more from Abby's session, start the slideshow. (And don't forget - add the Facebook App 'showit web' to your facebook and you can put this show on your facebook page!)
just have to give a loud 'Praise God'! here right now!
I'm a supporter of an organization called 'Shaohannah's Hope' which was founded by Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth Chapman. I encourage others to support them as well and you can always find a link to them at the bottom of this blog.
Anyway, now that we are in the position of trying to adopt ourselves (vs. helping others do the same) we applied to Shaohannah's Hope for an adoption grant. Well, today we received the letter informing us that we've been given a $3000 grant! We're so happy!
So, where does that put us now? Well, we need to send our agency $7,500 more. We're applying for other grants and are also preparing to send out letters to friends and family and asking them/you to partner with us in this adoption as well. If you would like to learn more about our process and perhaps contribute to this pursuit of ours, please send your address to me at jared@jaredwilsonphotography.com We'd love to have your help! As some of you know, we are trying to adopt one or two children from 0-18 months old of either gender from Ethiopia. We've been at it for nearly two years now and it's beginning to feel like it's just around the corner!
And finally, if you didn't see Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife on Good Morning America this month you can watch the video below. They are truly a brave and inspirational couple for us all to learn from and admire.
And for some totally un-related good news - I just got my camera back from Canon with a brand new shutter inside. It only took 6 days to get it back. Canon rocks!
ow, I won't pretend to be any kind of expert on marriage - but I will propose that if a man and a woman can make each other laugh then they can look forward to a lifetime of happiness. Polly and Jeremy have this and more and it was so fun watching the two of them together. I can't wait for the wedding!

We started off near the denver art museum. There are just so many options around there!

And then we went over to Riverfront Park. 1. Because it's cool there too and 2. Because I couldn't hardly take a photo around the art museum without police either watching us or being in the background!

I also messed around a bit with some off camera flash. The sky was all crazy dramatic and not too far away a tornado touched down. Yikes!

Congrats you two on your engagement - and I'll see you in a month or so!

treasure this day forever
(And Polly, I know you check my blog all the time, but why don't you give us a little shout out this time, ok?) :p
ell Jessica and her mother, Kathy, were 'troopers' on this one! It took us 3 evenings to make this session happen - but we did it guys! :)
The night we originally planned to meet was so windy we rescheduled for the next evening. Then, after about 20 or 30 minutes of shooting that night, the shutter on my 1D MK II N bit the dust. And THEN, on night 3 - we were able to finish up on a lovely night in the north metro area.
Jessica is beautiful inside and out and I just love all the images we got of her!

And this might be one of my all time favorites...

If you'd like to see more of Jessica's session, start the show! (She also has a beautiful taste in music!)
And for you photographers out there who are curious what it looks like when your shutter breaks...

Would you believe that my biggest frustration at that particular moment was that the light and scenery and everything was just so PERFECT and I couldn't do anything with it... (My current frustration is the bill I just received from Canon to replace the shutter. ;)
ast night I found myself in downtown Denver and - have you heard? The DNC started today! Last night it was just craziness downtown and I really feel sorry for all the people that are working downtown this week. I know that it's great for our city to host this thing, but it's just got to be a rotten week trying to get to and from work.
There were police everywhere as well as photographers and film crews and lots of important looking people. There were also some horses. Yeah, horses.
on't know if I've ever 'talked sports' here before - but here's my fantasy team after my draft today:
QB - Peyton Manning
RB -Clinton Portis
RB - Reggie Bush
WR - Chad Johnson
WR - Chris Chambers
WR - Reggie Brown
TE - Tony Gonzalez
K - Shaun Sulsham
D/ST - Minnesota
What do you think? I attempted to draft based on opponents in weeks 14-16 (when fantasy playoffs happen). Out of 12 teams in our league, 8 make the playoffs - so my odds to make it are pretty good. That's why I put a lot of thought into who might do well for me once the playoffs roll around.
Anyway, enough sports talk! This is a place for pretty pictures. :)
ollowing up my awesome session with Mariah, I went out the next night with Kelly and her mother and had more photo fun! Kelly loves horses and so we started off our session with an old friend of hers...

I was loving the cowboy/western motif and so I had her go into the barn...
