ast Thursday I had the opportunity to photography the wedding of Laura and Frank in Evergreen. It was absolutely beautiful and Evergreen has to be one of the most serene places in Colorado that I've visited.
While Laura was getting ready at Tallgrass, Frank was getting ready at the cabin.

I saw this on a bag at the spa.

And this on a wall at the cabin.

It appeared that the cabin the guys were getting ready in had a few other visitors the night before.

The ceremony was amazing - right on the water...

And speaking of water, this one had a lot of tears. You know, the good, happy kind!

But it turned into smiles for the rest of the night just as soon as they said 'I do' and made their exit.

It began to rain almost immediately after the ceremony finished, which delayed our little photo session for a bit. But when the rain cleared up we made it back outside and found ourselves in a land filled with the craziest hues of Aquas and Oranges...

Thanks Laura and Frank for letting me celebrate with you. It was a day to remember!
y calendar is filling up with '09 grads and here is my first from this new batch of Seniors. Garrett will be graduating from Horizon High School in Thornton, Colorado next spring.
I loved hanging out with him and his Mom for the afternoon this past Tuesday and getting to know them a little bit (Yeah, guys, 'In Bruges' was very funny but you're right, it takes a certain sense of humor!)
Garrett is a talented drummer...

And one day he just might be a rock star.

We went downtown for some urban portraits - my favorite!

This one happened quite by accident. I was trying to light up Garrett's face when Beverly pointed out that it looked like he had angel wings. I kinda went with it. I would say this is not my style, maybe it's more 'gothic' I guess, and it brings to my mind those popular books right now - you know, the 'twilight saga' - though I haven't read any of them (yet).

This is more 'my' style I'd say...

But I want all parents out there to know that I do indeed know how to take 'pretty' pictures that you would be proud to put in your senior's yearbook or on your office wall. See!

But then, we're going to get lots of awesome artistic stuff too - because that's what I do. Another example...

Thanks Garrett for spending the afternoon with me and letting me take your photograph a thousand times. I hope you find some here that are as nice as your 'cowboy hat' baby picture!
If you'd like to see more, check out the slideshow (it's one of Garrett's favorite songs, or at least one of Garrett's favorite drummers - Travis Barker)
es, my son turns four today. He's still the baby and it is so hard to think that he's been in our lives for 4 years now! When both of our children were born we chose to have it be a 'surprise' as to what we were having. Since we already had a girl I remember what a joy it was to watch our son be born and know that we'd have (at least) one of each. And it is so incredible to see the differences in girls and boys as they grow up.
Right now he's in to rockets and shooting things. He also likes to run fast like 'Dash'...
Here are a few random photos of our guy from the last week.
just got a few complimentary copies of the new Premier Bride Colorado in the mail today and guess what!? Lisa and Adam's beautiful wedding in Colorado Springs is a featured wedding!

For pulling off this fabulous wedding, a lot of credit must be given to:
Julie at Classic Creations for coordinating the whole thing
Boonzaaijer's Cakes & Pastries for the yummy cake
Sweet Pea for the flowers
Dr. Joseph Galema & Lions Gate String Trio for the ceremony string accompaniment
Camilla Formica for the AMAZING and romantic live jazz music at the reception
T'da Design for the tent and lighting
And also Bruno's Party Time rental
The ceremony was at the Air Force Academy Chapel and the reception was at Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs (still one of the best meals I've ever had at a wedding!)
t's been pretty hot here lately in the Denver area, but I think God was smiling on this wedding as Saturday was mild temperatures - and a beautiful day. Erin and Colin looked amazing and I don't know that they ever quit smiling! They were wed on July 12th at The Pines at Genesee surrounded by their closest friends and family.

In one of my favorite 'flower girl moments' - our little one on the left just could not understand why our little one on the right kept pulling her pretty flower petals out of her basket and throwing them on the ground. It took a little while to get all the way down the aisle...

Congrats guys! I smile thinking about how much happiness you two bring to one another. May that continue to grow and grow and grow.
treasure this day forever
PS. I just have to pop one more photo in here. I take a lot of 'signing the marriage license' photos - and this one stands out to me. I just love the officiant holding the bouquet in the background...
ersonally, my favorite time on a wedding day as the photographer is the time I have with the Bride and Groom. I just love capturing the happy couple in their wedding attire and it's always a personal goal of mine to create a masterpiece for the newlyweds that they'll blow up and hang on their wall for the rest of their lives. (I have an image like this from my wedding, and it's still hanging at my home 9 years later...)
The great thing about an 'after' session like this is that we have tons of time to get some great shots without having a deadline. And another great thing about it is that the only thing that you'll be doing with your dress after this session is getting in cleaned and preserved - so no worries if it gets a little dirty, right?
Kristine and Brandon were up for just about anything and they were excited to have the time to do some more photos of the two of them since they weren't feeling too well on their wedding day (they were still recovering from a bout of food poisoning!). So, we went up to Louisville, Colorado and started at the train tracks.

Right next to the tracks was some tall grass...

And then we just walked around this quaint little town and found some great spots for Kristine and Brandon to be beautiful in!

Kristine and Brandon - it was so great seeing you two again here one month later. I'm so happy that we got to take some more great photos of you two at 100%. I wish you all the best in your new lives together.
took the Hammond's Candy Factory tour the other day with my family. I don't know that I'd put it on my 'things you must do when you visit Denver' list - but it was a cute and fun diversion for about an hour.
It got me thinking about my favorite candy. Hammond's has been making candy the old fashioned way for nearly 90 years and it's kinda neat to hear about, but I don't like their candy at all! I don't like candy canes, lollipops, etc. When it comes to hard candies I'd rather pass.
[ 0 ]
If I do ever buy candy (and it's a rarity) my choices would fall in this order:
1. Kit Kat (I eat the chocolate off these little thin strips first, and then I peel off the paper thin wafers and eat them one by one)
2. Twix (Has to be caramel - not a fan of the peanut butter. Again, I eat the caramel off first and then I eat the cookie part last.
3. Snickers (Nougat first, then nuts and caramel)
Every now and then I might eat a 'Watchamacalit', and even more rarely a 'Reese's Peanut Butter Cup'.
And that's about it. What can we gather from all this? I like my chocolate! And I eat things in a rather odd fashion...
Sorry, Hammond's, but I leave all the candy cane eating to Santa and his helpers.
