Melissa and Greg - The Engagement

T
here's no slowin' down for Jared Wilson Photography! Fortunately I love what I do and I love every chance I get to capture individuals and couples and these moments of our lives.
Melissa and Greg are getting married in just 5 days and we had a last minute engagement shoot on Friday morning in downtown Denver. They share one of my favorite characteristics in couples I photograph - they make each other laugh!

Of course, I like capturing those close intimate moments as well.

There's just something about the "urban" look I love. In fact, if anyone out there is planning on getting married in the middle of the street somewhere downtown - bring it on!

El Careyes Wedding Part II - Angela and Drake

M
arch 22nd... Wedding Day.
Angela had a gorgeous dress from Priscilla of Boston. Drake had a custom made suit that looked fantastic and the label on the inside even had his name on it - very cool.

I love this "getting ready" shot. Angela is in the middle getting her hair done.

Some call Drake "Dr. McDreamy". But really, do we need a reference to some other handsome guy? I think he can hold his own.

The wedding party. I might have some more photos to share at a later point of some of these people I was able to spend a few days getting to know. Of course, some of these photos could be incriminating and I'll have to use my best discretion in sharing. :)
One thing is clear, Angela and Drake are exceptional people and draw exceptional people close to them...

Angela and Drake - It was so amazing to be a part of your wedding day. "Beauty" is just a word - but in definition it surely should include "El Careyes". And doubly incredible was to witness the two of you committing your lives to one another here in this place. Wow, wow, wow. Congrats!

El Careyes Wedding Part I - Angela and Drake

W
here do two of the most beautiful people in the world go and get married? El Careyes of course! Angela and Drake tied the knot on Saturday, March 22nd in front of about 80 of their closest family and friends and it truly was an occasion to be treasured forever.

Right when I arrived I was overwhelmed by all the vibrant colors...

After many hours of traveling I had to jump in the shower - albeit quickly because Angela and Drake had planned a fantastic rehearsal party at 'Playa Rosa' - the beach next door - at Sunset.

They got a bonfire roaring on the beach to keep us warm and to enhance the wonderful atmosphere as friends and family gathered for a grand celebration. Here are Angela and Drake enjoying the blaze.

Later there were a few toasts. Angela and Drake expressed their gratitude to everyone for coming and supporting them. Like they had to pull anyone's leg to come... :)

Before I went back to my oceanside room to catch some Zzzzs, I tried to catch a photo that shows the beauty of this place. Here are some of the rooms by moonlight. From these decks you gaze upon the Pacific Ocean for as far as the eye can see...

The next morning I went back over to Angela and Drake's room to discover some clues as to what might have happened in the wee hours of the morning after I was sound asleep. I don't know all the details, but those are pieces of the roof...

(I should insert that in no way was any pleasure taken in being destructive - it was a total accident. El Careyes is the most amazing of places and no one would choose to destroy it - we are all extremely grateful at the opportunity to stay here and be a part of the magic for a week.)

If I had to choose a favorite from my stay in Mexico this one would make my list of nominees. I think Angela just looks fantastic - and the playful artistry of her hat and the lines it creates just make me happy! :)

And so does this one. I took a little boat ride with some of Angela and Drake's friends and they took a little snorkel break.

Here's another favorite...
Angela threw Drake a birthday party on Friday night and this was taken right before. They had these little canopies made of this fabric so you could sit under there and avoid the direct sun. It was blowing in the breeze and I thought it would look great as the wind took it and wrapped it around them...

After dinner there was another bonfire on the beach. I love this photo of Angela and her flower girl sharing a moment together.

And the next time we were to see the sun - it would be a day for a wedding!

I let everyone know how I was really looking forward to Spring arriving here in Colorado and I asked everyone to send in a couple of photos that said "Spring" and then we'd have a little vote here on the blog and let you readers choose the winner. So, please leave a comment below and let me know which one is your favorite because so much is riding on your opinion! One lucky person will go home with a $25 iTunes (or Bookstore) Gift Certificate and the other three will simply have to go buy their own music.

Catching Up

W
HEW!
Last night I returned from my 12 day trip to Las Vegas and Mexico. It was a blast - but I am exhausted!
I have so much I want to share with all of you but it's going to have to wait. Do you think you could do that for me? I promise that soon I will share with you even more photos from the Vegas boneyard...

As well as a TON of photos from Mexico. Quite a place for a wedding, huh!?

But alas, you will have to wait a bit. You see, I was away from my family for nearly two weeks. And since my daughter is a Kindergartner this year and this week happens to be her Spring Break, the Wilson family decided to take a few days and head on down to Durango to play in the snow together.

Sorry to leave you all hangin' - but I promise that soon I will share everything.

he boneyard is just crazy cool. I could only dream of having something like this in the Denver area that I could visit frequently. Here are some more - 'random' - shots of the Las Vegas Neon Graveyard.
